God Is Faithful—Trust Him

dodson-post

The statement God Is Faithful—Trust Him is the theme on the bulletin board that I pass every day here at work. Every day it is a gentle reminder from my Heavenly Father to continue to “trust Him.” I have walked for many years with the Lord, and He has shown Himself to always be faithful to me!  Why then do I find myself becoming a little anxious? The answer to that question is because the enemy of my soul, Satan, is always whispering lies to me and expecting me to believe his lies.

Walking by Faith

In November 2014, the Lord gave my hubby and me verses to direct us to the next ministry He had for us. The verses came from 2 Corinthians 5:5 and 7. Verse five was specifically to my husband and verse seven was to me. It says: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” This is a very short verse which is repeated often in the Word of God, but this was the first time I had seen it in 2 Corinthians, even though I have read the Bible over and over many times.

However, this time the Lord was preparing me for a different ministry, and this time I knew I really, really had to trust Him! This was definitely exciting, but I must be honest, it was also a little frightening. What would the Lord send to us that would require me to walk by faith? Would I pass the test that would soon come as we prepared for missionary service globally?

Our First Missionary Trip

Because the Lord knows us so well, He also gave us another verse one morning during our devotions and it was so comforting. This was about two weeks before the first missionary trip overseas. My hubby was going with another missionary to teach pastors and church leaders in Tanzania, East Africa. This is the verse that we decided to meditate upon and memorize:

“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you” (Genesis 28:15).

Oh, how precious are the words of this verse! It was the comfort we both needed to take us through that first missionary trip. This trip was tedious in labor, a blessing to watch the people hang on to every Word of the teaching that was given out, and not without drama and excitement.

A Tanker and a Bus

The drama came in the form of a head-on collision with an oil tanker! My hubby was sitting on the front seat beside the driver of the bus which was filled with women, children, chickens, and two missionaries from the States. As the glass of the front windshield shattered and came toward my hubby’s face, he called out to Jesus and immediately received an answer!

The tanker hit the bus, knocked the bus around, and then turned upside down. Everyone immediately rushed off the bus and waited for the tanker to explode. However, the driver of the tanker crawled out of it, and everyone on the bus got off without a scratch. The tanker did not explode, and later everyone went on their way to different destinations.

When I heard how God had done this miracle for my hubby and those involved in the accident, it was definitely clear to me that His Word does not return to Him void.  He brought my husband home safe and sound and since then, he has traveled to Africa (several times), India, Canada, and the West Indies safely and always with the assurance that God is faithful and we can trust Him.

We serve an awesome God!
